Hey there, I’m Janneke Berghuis and I’m a dutch freestyle mogul skier.

I started skiing in Switserland on family holidays when I was 1,5 years old. Not very common for a Dutch girl :). When I was 6 I started mogul skiing at Montana-Snowcenter, an indoor ski slope in the south of the Netherlands.

At the age of 7 I started competing at some small kids-cup competitions in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. At 14 I started skiing Europe cup competitions. The last two years I travelled all over Europe with my mom and younger sister Laura to ski the full Europe cup tour. In 2019 I got my first Europe cup podium and last season I had my first win and I became 2nd on the overall Europe cup podium!

I’m super exited to start my first full Worldcup season now in 22/23!

This is my coach Fred

When my former coach stopped I skied two years of Europe cup competition with my mom as my coach. During this period I decided to ski more competitions and become a professional mogul skier. In October 2018 Fred Weiss asked me to join his team with athletes from different countries.

In this short amount of time Fred has already helped me so much and brought my jumps and skiing to the next level!

Summertraining

During summer we still try to ski as much as possible. As summer means higher temperatures we have to look for snow on some higher altitudes. So we move to glaciers like the ones in Tignes and val D’Isere. But we also spend a lot of hours on the trampoline and waterramp to train new jumps. We use different water ramps, like the one in Best (Netherlands), Evian (France) and Villach (Austria) to mimic the different kind of jumps you would encounter during the competition season.

We first train new moves on trampoline and after that we move to the waterramp. When jumps are going steady on the waterramp you can start training them on  snow.

During this period strength, condition and agility training are also very important.
